Our special apple crumble - family treat

We love this hearty and sweet treat. The oats and walnuts give it an extra crunch and make all the difference in taste. Easy to make and we haven't met anybody who doesn't like it!

Services 6-8 people


Ingredients

1 kilogram apples

1 lemon, juice and zest

1 tsp of cinnamon

1 tbsp of can sugar


50 grams of oatmeal

50 grams of flour

1/4 tsp of baking powder

125 grams of walnuts

125 grams of can sugar

80 grams of cold butter


Peal the apples, take out the hearts and cut them in large cubes. Mix the apples with the lemon juice, zest, cinnamon and cane sugar. Put the mixture in a pan, add a splash of water and boil on a low heat for around 10 minutes until the apples have softened a bit. Transfer into an oven dish to cool.


Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celcius.


For the crumble fry the walnuts in a dry frying pan until you start to smell them a little bit. Chop them roughly. Mix the oatmeal, flour, baking powder, walnuts and sugar. Cut the butter into small cubes and quickly mix the butter through the dry ingredients by rubbing it through your fingers until it is a crumbling mixture.


Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples and put in the oven for 25-30 minutes. Nobody can resist this smell... A little scoop of melting vanilla ice cream on top and this easy dish is close to perfect.
