Living is Moscow gives you the perfect excuse to travel to Georgia! Whether it's for a long weekend just visiting Tbilisi and Kazbeghi or for a longer trip where you have the chance to discover more of Georgia's raw beauty, we highly recommend to experience this country. It's nature is so beautiful and rough, the food is so pure & tasty and the people are very friendly and very conveniently speak better English than most Moscovites. Traveling around by car is easy as most highlights are 2-3 hours away from each other and you'll be impressed by the landscapes on your way. Discover it now before mass tourism will!
Direct flights from Moscow take you to Tbilisi in only 2,5 hours. We recommend to go in spring, summer or autumn. Even in summer temperatures are bearable, especially in Kazbegi in the mountains. For Tbilisi 1 or 2 days is enough, especially with children as the city is very old & hilly and hard to go around with a stroller or scooter. Walking from cable lift, to cable train, to churches will keep you entertained for a day, but staying longer than 2 days in hot temperatures will probably be less appreciated by your kids. Without kids and discovering nightlife of course is worth a 3 day visit. Hotel recommendations are "Iota" in downtown Tbilisi http://iotahotels.com/En# and "Fabrica" https://hostelfabrika.com/ for a more trendy and urban feel a bit outside the city center.
On top of your list of destinations in Georgia should be Kazbeghi. Book a room with valley view in Rooms hotel Kazbeghi https://roomshotels.com/kazbegi/ and you can easily spend 3 nights here to walk or drive up to the famous church on the hill top, bike around, or enjoy the hotel's beautiful facilities like mountain view pool with outside deck, gym and a brilliant terrace of their cozy&stylish restaurant where you can just relax and enjoy the view!
Because we had 9 days in total, we also went to the wine area in Tel'avi, which is recommendable if you have more time. We stayed in a nice, comfortable hotel with outdoor pool, great views and spacious rooms on the Schuchmann winery property http://www.schuchmann-wines.com/hotel/. The town itself is not very impressive, but you can do a wine tour in the area and you can do a day trip to the beautiful Bodbe monastery and nearby old town of Sighnaghi.
