Moscow Zoo - kids activity

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Moscow Zoo is a perfect kids activity. And the downtown setting of this zoo is amazing as you're surrounded by Moscows skyscrapers. The downside of its location that there is hardly any parking, so come by metro!

The first time we went here it was a bit of a shock. The cages were quite small, uninspiring, not very safe and many of the animals were not present. But when you cross the bridge to the new part this impression changes. Here you will find nice and spacious habitats for the animals both indoor&outdoor and you will see some nice exotic animals like giraffes, monkeys and polar bears.

And Moscow Zoo recently opened a new area, which is called the "Kids Zoo". It's a lovely done petting zoo, which has lots of nice and modern features to explore and learn about all kinds of different farm animals. So even if you have visited the Zoo before, it's worth checking this out.

The area in itself is not too big, but since you can visit the entire zoo with the same ticket, we definitely recommend it.

The highlights for us has been the two different enclosures that you are allowed to enter. One is a birds tunnel, where you walk through and watch lots of different birds, like ostriches and grouses. The other one is the cage with goats and sheep, which you can enter to feed and pet them. (Check the opening hours.)

What we also really liked was the playground, because it was a very modern one with a direct connection to a cafe, with great in- and outdoor sitting areas. It is very convenient to watch your kids play while enjoying a coffee.

Children under 17 are free and an adult ticket costs 500RB. If you want to avoid the lines buy your ticket in advance online on their website. If you want to see their aquarium you have to pay separately in the zoo.

TIP! Go for lunch across the entrance at Zoo beer&Grill!

Location: Sadovaya-Kudrinskaya Ulitsa, 3

Metro: Barikadnaya
