PIMENOV - MUSES OF MONTPARNASSE - RUSSIAN ART IN NEW-YORK, 1924


1. NEW TRETYAKOV GALLERY

Yuri Pimenov. From Sept, 8th

A large exhibition of the rewarded 20th century painter whose style can possibly be described as impressionistic socialistic realism. Moscow, especially its new quarters, was always in the focus of his artistic attention. "New Moscow" is the most famous of his canvases. The exhibition is expected to be very popular and it is recommended to buy tickets in advance on the Gallery's website.

2. THE MUSEUM OF RUSSIAN IMPRESSIONISM

"Other Shores. Russian Art in New York. 1924" From Sept, 15th

In 1924 more than 1000 pieces of art were displayed at the Russian Art Exhibition in New York. This was a unique cross-section of Russian art from the first two decades of the 20th century, the artists selected their best pictures to send overseas. It took a year of hard work to the Impressionism Museum curators to find these items in private collections around the world and bring them together again, this time - in Moscow.

3. PUSHKIN MUSEUM OF FINE ART "Muses of Montparnasse" Currently running, until Oct, 3rd

In the free and liberated spirit of Montparnasse, the talents of female artists and models, writers, collectors, and bright socialites easily found the ways of self-realisation. This exhibition will tell the story of the most important, well-known and undeservedly forgotten figures of the Montparnasse art scene at the dawn of the 20th century. The exhibition takes place in the Gallery of European Art of the 19-20th centuries - a greenish mansion to the left of the main building of Pushkin Museum.
