Walking tour. From Darkness to Light. Atheism in Soviet Russia

The group tours happen regularly. Follow Moscowliving on Facebook or Instagram for the updates. If you want to order this particular tour for you and your friends or family, write me to tips@moscowliving.org I am often asked by foreign tourists: "How Russia became such a religious country after almost a century of communism?"

A place of religion in Russians' minds and relationships between the church and the state throughout the 20th century will the theme of this walk, starting from Christ the Savior Cathedral - a symbol of post-Soviet religious revival.

You will:

learn about the man who banned celebrating Christmas,

picture yourself living in a communal apartment based in a former monastery,

take a short course of "scientific atheism" in a university,

and be surprised how being a believer can become a form of a young generation protest.
